After the bedlam of EICMA and the Milan show last week, this week’s action looks set to be a little less hectic. We’re off to Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit for the world press launch of the Ducati 959 Panigale – a track perfect for supermid spankings and assessing its upgrades.
Want to know more about it? Thinking of upgrading from the 899? Want to know specifics from the factory’s engineers? With a longer stroke that provides an additional 57 cubes, how does the claimed 7bhp increase translate to realtime? And although chassis tweaks for 2016 have been kept to a minimum, the exhaust repositioning and subsequent weight distribution should equate to palpably different handling.
Unfortunately for the 959 and thanks to these Euro4 emission laws, the unveiling was encased with questions regarding that exhaust. As we’ve touched on previously, moving away from a bellypan exit should go along way to making the 959 more accepted at trackdays by the noise police. Is the 1299 next?
