Ducati Track Day 28-07-15 Silverstone 089

As you may have gathered via yesterday’s social media activity, Team 44Teeth were present for Ducati’s annual trackday celebrations at Silverstone. We got to sample a smidgen of the 2015 range, surrounded by Desmo-heads and friendly Ducatisti. Much L-twin infested fun was had by all.

There were a handful of Superleggeras, a smattering of Desmosedicis, and everything from old-school Monsters to a Scrambler. In between finding ceasefire solutions for the UN, Baron will get round to scribbling some prose based on his experiences. In the meantime, here are a few that caught the eye…

Bellas rodas: this is a striking JHP-built 899, with OZ Racing wheels that – along with the paint – really set it apart from other Minigales. Lightech rearsets, Termi’ exhaust and a tailtidy are among other mods.

Legless: no, we’re not being cunty. This is Murray Hambro. He had his legs blown off by an IED whilst serving in Afghan. He now races this 899 in the Ducati Cup alongside BSB, using pneumatic button-shifters on the ‘bars to change gear. Bona fide legend, whose nickname is ‘Legless’…

Panigale R: while the 1299’s Superquadro motor was bored to gain much-needed midrange, Ducati still needed a Panigale to conform to racing regs. The heavily revised Panigale R pumps out the same power as the 1299 and weighs just 162kg. The exhaust is £4k alone

Monsterous: there were several naked derivatives seriously hustling around Silverstone’s GP layout and this dry-clutched Monster looked resplendent, nestling on the exit of its pit box. Zard and Ducati go together like ham and cheese

Standard sexiness: undeniable beauty, even in relatively stock form. Metzeler M7RRs, some super-trick looking rearsets and a full Akrapovic decorate this 1299 S

Multi-tool: I’ve ridden a Multistrada round Spa and it was epic fun. A bit wallowy but still handy. Not sure whether this is special paint but catches the eye nonetheless.
