After a 41-year absence, the iconic Honda Dax is back in the range for 2023 – and I’m very happy about this. The ST125 joins the Monkey and MSX125 Grom in Honda’s minibike European line-up and looks very similar to that of the original 1969 model.
The Dax, which is a nod to Dachshund hounds with its short legs and long body, features the same air-cooled 124cc Euro5-compliant motor. In fact, the Dax shares many components in Honda’s minibike range; 31mm USD forks, twin shocks and 12-inch rims. But, unlike actual lazy Dachshund owners, you won’t have to pick up/tread in any shit.

Honda is also keen to ensure everyone knows that the frame, which also houses the fuel tank, is sturdy enough for a pillion. I can feel a test coming soon…
It’ll be available in two colours; Pearl Nebula Red and Pearl Cadet Grey, and no doubt race paddocks around the world will be treated to a few ST125s making the place look trendy. Incidentally, James at JHS Racing is building a 225cc big bore, 5-speed ‘box Grom as we speak.

Can someone remind Honda about the ST50DAX Mopeds they sold in the late 80’s early 90’s. One of mine dates from 1994, so I make that 28 years rather than the 41 years, an embarrassing oversight from Honda,
