Calm down, calm down. Today’s Yamaha announcement at the Bol d’Or isn’t the all-new R6, R8 or an R1 SP as some were suggesting. Instead, Yamaha has treated the entire Supersports range to some yellow paint for 2016 to mark the firm’s 60th anniversary, with the spec’ sheet remaining fairly stock.

The R1, R6, R3 and R125 will have the iconic speedblock design as a limited edition option, paying homage to Yamaha’s legendary racers, and the 60th Anniversary Yamaha YZF-R1 comes with an Akrapovic slip-on can. No prices have been confirmed but expect to see them in Yamaha dealers in December. Dear Santa…

And there’s good news for R1M lovers: Yamaha has announced another run of the track specialist, with customers requested to register online from 1st of October.

I’ve owned about 7 bikes. Mainly honda (CBRR 1000) got me this 2016. Never felt a street bike with such a power band! The cross plane engine is great in so many ways! Was very easy to transition from left to right of bike. In A-1 mode. If ya don’t have butt against back seat/cowl. It could literally pull you off the bars! It got stolen and think I’m going to get same bike!
